Citizens of Brooke County:
During this continued time of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we continue to encourage all of you to practice the 6 foot social distancing. We would also remind you that health officials have stated that the next two to three weeks the virus will become worse. This includes the potential of catching the virus, which could lead to severe health issues and possibly death. We urge you to take this seriously and to abide by all of the executive orders issued by Governor Jim Justice and all of our Health Department Officials.

We would also like to discuss some of issues that will, no doubt start affecting our citizens in the next month or so. With the Covid-19, we will start seeing more cases of depression and suicide attempts. If you or someone you know start feeling depressed, we encourage you to reach out to your physician to seek the proper treatment.

In the past several years, we have seen the decline in property and theft crimes and have become more comfortable in leaving our cars and homes unlocked. We would encourage all citizens to make sure that all cars, houses and other properties are locked up at all times. We have already started to see a small increase in property crimes and thefts.

Just because we are in the middle of a pandemic, doesn't mean that criminals stop being criminals. Rest assured that we will be out patrolling our streets in attempt to deter all crimes and to arrest those committing them.
